[I just joined and] I realize there’s been a lot of discussion on rudders/shafts. Nowhere did I find what the deflection (in degrees or mm off-axis measured at the stern) is the desired/designed value. After some fiddling with end points, I have a rudder trailing edge that deflects a max of 25mm P&S as measured across the transom. Just looking at it, for a rudder foil this thin, it looks like it would be near stall with that kind of deflection. Anyone have some insight or guidance? I’m having stalling mid-tack issues. I’ve been sailing a Fairiwnd 900 for a couple of decades and am new to this lighter narrower hull. CAW
